ok.... so last night, in Goldsboro, my car broke down. True brotherhood is defined by the two gentlemen, Ricky and Daren, who drove all the way up there to get me AND my car and bring us back to Lumberton. My car will probably never be on the road again.
Then this morning, I'm on my way to Pembroke, and as I was about 100-150 feet from the chicken road intersection, a couple of guys decide they can make it, and try to cut across my lane onto Chicken road. They didn't get anyfurther than the ditch. So now Alissa's car is totaled, but the other guys was cited and had insurance so he will be buying us a new car. I'm mostly ok, a little shaken and sore through my shoulders and lower back, but otherwise unscratched.
So I ask... bad luck or Karma?

Basically I say it's bad luck. But it is wierd that when your Grand Am breaks down, my Grand Am is no longer a POS.

Sucks to be you! At least you'll be getting a hot new ride Too bad you won't be getting two! Alissa's car was nice too. Damnit, if your car had made it another day, it coulda been totaled Oh well, that's crappy luck.

At least you'll be getting a hot new ride Too bad you won't be getting two! Wrong ;D Wrong again. Yes it would have been my car that was totaled... but my car had liability only, hers had collision. The guys I hit were broke-ass migrant workers, still dressed like they just came out of the fields. I got a call from their insurance company today, and they WERE insured, but I'm pretty sure it was minimal. Whatever we get out of their insurance company will probably not even finish the payments on that Sunfire. And also... and this is why I said wrong... if my car had not broken down I would have still been in bed, because I would not have had to get up and take Alissa to work. So its all her fault Really I don't blame her. Shit happens.

[glow=purple,2,300]Well, at least both of you are alive and well. Think of it as a good thing not a bad thing. [/glow] I do. In fact, one of the witnesses said that when I got out of the car, I had a wierd half-smile on my face. So, I think I was glad to be alive and walking, either that or the whole thing appealed to my sense of adventure. Small update: Most of my pain is gone, still a little stiff though. I have a prescription for 800mg Ibuprofen, and 10mg Flexoril. Haven't filled those yet, because I can't afford to. Also, the '02 Jeep I was looking at was more than the bank was willing to finance right now, so I'm going with a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee LE, little over 80k miles on it but trade in value will be nearly what I paid in about a year (I got a deal). Forest Green w/ gray trim, Leather interior, tow package already installed, all the good stuff. Owned by a rich family here in Lumberton who wouldn't want to get dirt under their fingernails by using a Jeep for what it was intended, so it's in really good condition.

Gee let's see... I got my first hand me down in 1996. A 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham (aka "The grocery getter") That piece of shit broke down on me one day right at the front gate of Richmond Senior High just as school let out and 2000 students were behind me waiting to leave.....OH the embarassment....I prayed...please God...start! It did!!! I drove it home and parked it and it never cranked again! I bought my first vehicle in March 1998 (i think) A 1988 Chevy Blazer! Oh yeah! Lots of bumpin room in that baby. I only paid 900 for it and all i had to do was get a new set of tires for it. what a deal It was my trusty steed throughout my senior year. I drove it to graduation in May 1999. I never drove it home...I never drove it again. Graduation night.....I walk out in the parking lot and I see this beautiful BRAND NEW Chevy Camaro with all these gay ass balloons on it. I was like...wow, why are my parents standing next to some kids new car....OH SHIT....THAT'S MINE! I got it in...took the Tee Tops off, drove me and Beth home. As I was waiting at the stoplight....a HOT chick pulled up beside me and said....NICE CAR! (with beth sitting in passenger seat mind you) My thoughts were ...oh yes...the ***** I will be getting with this... Oh well, since then no chick has pulled up beside me and said shit. but it's got a pretty kickass factory Monsoon stereo which is great for drumcorps.... RIGHT CHASE? Ahh.... Anyways, those are my 3 bitches! (knocking on wood.....no wrecks to speak of YET) So the moral of this story is...well i don't have one, but it's nice to have a car !

As someone who has gone through SEVERAL cars (1965 Dodge Dart, 1988 Nissan Truck, 1988 Chevy Blazer, 1989 Toyota Corolla, 1992 Ford Excrement...or Explorer, 1996 Buick Park Avenue, 1994 Nissan Pathfinder), I have come up with the perfect motto... If it has tits or tires, its gonna piss you off and cost you money. ;D
