So I was reading an article about the military being pulled too thin. There's so many different things our Nation is facing right now; Iraq, North Korea, Libera, etc. I also read that they were talking (nothing official AT ALL) about bringing the Draft into play. I think that for one, our plate (As American military) is too full. We have to much to worry about. However, it shouldn't be just our worries. I mean, if these guys are planning a Nuclear attack on America, don't you think everybody else should be just as concerned as we are. I mean, we're the strongest nation in the world, and if we're concerned, then England, France, and other countries should be just as concerned. But I think it would be a horrific idea to bring back the draft, and I won't even be effected b/c I'm an only child and the last male carrier of our family name. But its just a question. What yall think...HOLLA!

I dunno... I think that the draft is a terrible thing, its just another way for people to commit a crime and get arrested (by draft-dodging).
I think that our government is trying too hard. We really don't need to be fighting on all these fronts at the same time. Like Kam said... Iraq, N. Korea, Liberia, and don't think for a minute that we are done in Afghanistan either. and when some of these fires get put out, more will pop up.
However, things have changed a lot in the last 40 years. In today's media-driven world, it would be political suicide for any political party to support bringing back the draft. And, despite what they say, you can rest assured that MOST politicians are more interested in getting re-elected, or seeing someone else from their party take their place, than they are what goes on overseas.

well, i got one thing to say: why the hell are only males required to sign up for the draft!?! if women want EQUAL rights. they should also expect of have to take on equal responsibilites. meaning that anyone that turnes of age has to register. if they don't want to defent their country, then why should they be able to vote, etc. but they can't take me...i had cancer (knew my "ace" would come in handy some day)

[glow=purple,2,300]Usually, women aren't even in the front lines during war. However, I do believe they should be part of the draft even if just to support the men in some off handed way. However, because our military is so large there truly isn't a need for a draft. Yet, the world hates the USA because we are trying to be the police of it. We are attacking everything evil and its really hard to support that as a citizen. I can only pray that everything will end good. But as histroy is bound to repeat its self our great empire as the strongest country in the world is going to end someday. Hopefully not too soon![/glow]

You could always join the Texas Air National Guard .... Hey it's better than draft dodging by running off to Oxford in England and burning the Stars and Stripes. Honestly, we'll never see the draft again. We have alot of units that were never activated for duty in Iraq. MOST of our troops are home from Afghanistan, but we have a ton still over there. Liberia should be handled by the UN. Korea just needs 3 nukes up their ass and a good "SHUT YO DAMN MOUTH BIATCH" and we'll be set. As far as policing the world......well we are the only military superpower left. It is our duty to make sure no more nations fall into communism or a dictatorship. As long as I still get my HBO skin flicks at night, i'm happy though... Holla
