OK, Sprint has pissed me off for the last time.
Most of you know my phone was turned off, because I was trying to find a job and couldn't make the payments until I did.
Well, I called Sprint at the beginning of the month to find out what needed to be done to get it restored. They informed me that on July 15 my account would be terminated, UNLESS I made at least a $50 payment by that date. So I wrote a check on the 14th. Here's where the problems started.
* They posted my check twice, causing an overdraft. * They STILL terminated my account, which would have really screwed up my credit, as well as charging a $150 termination fee. * The woman I talked to the first time was very rude, wouldn't even let me finish a sentence, which earned her a view of an emotional side of me only a few of you have ever witnessed. She's probably STILL sitting in a fetal position on the floor, crying and rocking back and forth.
SO.... as soon as my contract expires in November, I'm outta there. I would like to activate my old phone on a different network, so which one do you recommend? If the one you suggest isn't on the poll, I'll add it. I was drawing a blank trying to think of the various services.

Matt Phone companies can be a pain in the ass. To tell you the truth... I'm not quite happy with Sprint myself. Of course you know the reason. However Out of the 3 phones services you have on the poll... It would either go with Suncom or Verizon. When i had verzion, i thought it was a piece of crap until Suncom erected a tower in Pembroke. After that... i got great service. However the sound quality of the phones isn't great, but you always have a signal. Suncom is a pretty good service. Of course it's part of AT&T, so it'll be available wherever there's a suncom or at&t tower in the area. I think you should go with Suncom. There's a store in Lumberton by the Lowe's food. If you go in there with your student ID, you can get a free phone and activation free. So if you like free stuff... SunCom. ;D

Okay so I've been thinking about getting a cell phone. Is Nokia a good brand? I know what kind I want, but I don't know if they're good phones. And about this suncom thing...you don't even have to pay an activation free? Free phone and free activation? Holla back

Alltel has just opened a store in the Video/Ice Cream/Radio Shack/OB-GYN next to Food Lion here in Pembroke. I still say screw 'em. As far as customer service, well... no one that works for AllHell has had to remove my shoe from their John Brown hindparts...yet. But damned if they don't have some serious dark patches in their service. There are parts of Scotland County that I can't get service in. SCOTLAND F'N COUNTY! I BOUGHT THE DAMN PHONE AND THE PLAN THERE 'TARDS!!!!!!! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I CAN'T GET A FRIGGIN' SIGNAL IN THE SAME PLACE I BOUGHT THE DAMN PHONE? ? YOU NEED TO GO SUCK ON A PLASTIC BAG FOR BEING STUPID!!! BETTER YET, WHILE SUCKING ON THE BAG, POINT AT YOURSELF BUT DON'T SAY "I AM A DUMMY" BECAUSE THAT IS FRIGGIN' OBVIOUS!!! Oh yeah, you may want to also check out Cingular.

Cingular is alright I guess...that is the service I have and I get pretty good signal at Pembroke. The only problem they have is with their towers. During the summer, a bunch of their towers werent working b/c of the storms and everything. But Cingular I think has good service and good deals

Matt I am in the same boat but I already know what I am getting. A Nextel. Those things have great service. My brother has one and he never loses service even in Pembroke.

Alright, now that I have calmed down, let me give a more clarified version of my opinion.
I talked with Sprint, they are covering the overdraft fee. They suggested letting the second $50 (the part I didn't intentionally give them) stay in my Sprint account, so that nothing would be more than 60 days old. I can take full responsibility for not paying my bill, even though there really wasn't an option. They made right on the overdraft, they "un-terminated" my account and rescinded the termination fee, and the only thing left unanswered is the rude bitch in Collections at Sprint. I gave them her name, and they said they would "review the recordings from the conversation to determine whether any disciplinary action"was necessary. I'll never know how that turns out, though.
So, for the time being I will stay with Sprint. They have 4 months before my contract expires... when thats over, it will depend on the service I have received from this point on.
EDIT: PLEASE continue with suggestions. I'll take them into consideration if/when I decide to switch.

[glow=purple,2,300]Matt - My cell service is Verizon and it works everywhere with the exception of large steel warehouses that have a ton of electrical equipment, such as Best Buy. I could call out of my dorm room at PU and out of Chris's (and your's) at UNCP. And you can get a plan where roaming charges don't add up. I am just letting you know that its one of the best services out there and we switched from Sprint to it. My friend Elizabeth also switched because she couldn't get a signal in Misenheimer. Trust me, if you can pull a signal from Misenheimer (there's no tower within 40 miles every way) then I don't know what's better. [/glow]

Ok, my cell phone is turned back on.... so if anyone needs to reach me, and I'm not home, give that number a ring. I don't want to publish it on here.... so if you want it, drom me an email or a PM here on the forum and I'll give it you.
PS- I am staying with Sprint for now, because it would cost me a $150 Termination fee to switch right now. when my contract is through, we'll see what happens.
