there was talk of having a winter concert starting this year. a few people that did respond to it were all in favor of it. it then just kind of fizzled out and wasn't spoken of for quite some time. our song leader, James C. was in favor, and rob volunteered to head it up, as he did with the AMR this past spring. i, myself have a whole book of tuba/piano christmas songs. what are your thoughts on this and commitments to it as well?

Hey man, I'm all for a Winter Concert. I think it would be easier to arrange if we made it an all Christmas concert, but we don't have to. I have visions of some brass quintet stuff, some sax quartet stuff, some nice vocal performances (especially Silent Night, among others). I think this could be a real nice concert yall. I say we get some ideas rolling. Start planning when we get back...HOLLA!

i think a winter concert would be great. it would give us another project besides the race track and it would be a fun thing to do. i'm all up for it.

I'm for it, but limiting it to just Christmas stuff would counter the intent of having it. We are already bound by the AMR to perform solely American music. By having a Fall recital we can perform just about anything thus increasing the possibility of having more brothers performing on the concert.
Just my 2 cents

It's hard to find American composers for flute when most of the flute composers are European. Please NO restrictions on pieces or i'll be almost force to play jazz again. It's fun, but i rather play something i work on in lesson.

I am all for a winter concert, but it shouldn't just be limited to Xmas stuff. Hearing Oh Holy Night one more time during that season will make me vomit.

it seems most people are for it. and it doesn't have to be christmas stuff. we're not calling it a christmas concert. but you can play christmas stuff since it will be near that time. no limits. anything goes. except anything that'll give gwalt a heart attack. ensembles are a great idea. james, i see you're on. how about some feedback from the music director, eh?
