This FAQ will HOPEFULLY answer questions about how to use this forum.
----------------------------------------------------------------
[glow=red,2,300]POSTING[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I make my text a specific color?[/u][/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] On the drop-down menu to the right of the toolbar, click the color you would like to use. For this example I'll use red. You should see this:
[ color=Red] TEXT [/color ]
Now, whatever you want to be typed in that color, put in place where it says TEXT, like this:
[ color=Red] ABCDEFG [/color ]
When you post, you will see this
ABCDEFG
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I use the Bold, Italic, Underline, or Strikethrough features?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] Click the appropriate button. You will see one of the following (without spaces):
[ b]TEXT[/b ]
[ i]TEXT[/i ]
[ u]TEXT[/u ]
[ s]TEXT[/s ]
Replace the word TEXT with whatever you want to say. Everything you DO NOT want in that format should be typed outside of the code.
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I add a[/glow][glow=red,2,300]glow effect[/glow], [shadow=red,left,300]Shadow effect[/shadow], [glow=green,2,300]to my text?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] click the , , or button, respectively. Delete the word TEXT and replace with text of your choice. You can change the color of the glow or shadow by deleting the name of the color from the code and replacing it with the name of the color you wish to use. The color MUST be listed in the drop down color menu.
[glow=green,2,300]Q. Can I use more than one of these together?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/u][/glow] Yes, EXCEPT for the shadow and glow. Just Click the one of the buttons, delete the word TEXT, and with the cursor between the two sets, press the button for the other. Repeat until all text effects and colors you desire have been added.
Example:
[glow=red,2,300][/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I post a link to a website?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] Click the button. To simply post the link, type the url between the [ url] and the [ /url]
Ex.- [ url]www.uncp.edu[/url ] will become www.uncp.edu
To Hyperlink text, or in other words make "Click Here" become a link without actually showing the URL, Click the button. You will see:
Insert an = and the URL inside the first set of brackets, after where it says url. example: [ url=www.uncp.edu].
Between the two sets, type the text you want hyperlinked. Example: [ url=www.uncp.edu]Click Here[/url ].
You will see this when you post: Click Here.
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I post a picture?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] Click the above, and put the URL for the picture you want to post in place where it says URL. To obtain the URL, right-click on the picture, click properties, and find the "location" of the picture. That is the URL you want to use. example:
URL [ /img]
pnavy.com/uncpmatt/albums/album01/PMAHB.thumb.gif [ /img]
and you will see your picture:
[img src="i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/uncp_matt/MattPark.jpg"][/img]
Unfortunately, it is not possible to post pictures from your hard drive. Pictures MUST be on the internet. Furthermore, Some domains do not allow linking to photos. If you get a red "x", this may be the problem.
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I use Smiley's?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] Click on them and the code for that smiley will appear in your text. It will recognize the code when you post and display the desired smiley.
[glow=green,2,300]Q. How do I quote something someone else said?[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]A.[/glow] There are two ways to do this. If you use the button located in the upper right hand corner of each post, then whatever the original author of that post said will be automatically quoted.
If you use the button located at the top and bottom of each thread, then the only way to quote something someone said is to do the following:
type [ quote] (without the space)
type or copy paste whatever the person said that you wish to quote.
type [ /quote] (again, without the space).
You will see the following when you post:
Except that the word TEXT will be replaced with whatever you are quoting.
Please, for the sanity of other board members, ONLY QUOTE whatever it is you are commenting on. Quoting three paragraphs to comment on the last sentence is very annoying.
